Dealing with the Frustrations of Georgia Composite Board LPC License Denials?

"He was trying to find an option for me, and he did it! The man’s work ethic is phenomenal and his commitment to the profession is beyond reproach. Thank you, Eric. I remain eternally grateful."-

Here are the top reasons GA LPC applications are denied:

1) Did not demonstrate that all months of work were performed while under supervision.

Remedy: remember the phrase in the rules. “…directed experience under supervision.”

2) Your directed experience was not accepted by the board.

Remedy: Remember despite you performing mental health work, your license will ultimately allow you to practice independently. The board wants to see that your work has prepared you for that.

3) Lack of or shortage of supervision by a qualified supervisor.

Remedy: Most often the supervisor’s deficiency is they were not licensed the minimum 3 years before providing your supervision. Verify your supervisor’s credentials *before* engaging with them for supervision.

4) Improperly notarized documents.

Remedy: Be sure the date of notarization is not prior to when you have completed your required months of directed experience under supervision.

5) Did not demonstrate course requirements were met.

Remedy: This is often a silly oversight by the applicant. Be sure the courses on your transcript align with the course requirements section on the application.

6) Careless completion of the application.

Remedy: Follow the application instructions precisely as stated. Provide only what is requested.

Addressing an Application Denial

Unfortunately, sometimes applications are denied. Sometimes the board requests additional supporting evidence that you have met licensing requirements prior to making a formal decision on the application.

It is important these requests are handled promptly and correctly.

Reasons for Georgia board license denials can range from careless mistakes on the LPC application to simply not meeting requirements to the board not accepting a private practice work setting. Some are denied due to misrepresentation and even fraud.

I approved or denied over 7000 applications and can help with yours too.

License diagnosis services include:

* Evaluation of your current licensing materials and comparing them to LPC state requirements so you will have an accurate comparison. This required for licensure by endorsement.

* Formulate and present the best possible application the first time. When an LPC application is denied, it becomes more difficult to successfully become licensed.

* Follow up when you are informed of the outcome of the application.

* Addressing the board’s requests for additional information. Often you will encounter this.

My LPC was denied–why? Every application is unique. It is often difficult to understand state licensing requirements.

Still, you want to know in advance that your chances of becoming licensed in Georgia are good.

If you have taken a clear path and fully understand the licensing process, congratulations! For others, it’s important you don’t make assumptions about the process.

I will evaluate your application in its entirety and ensure you submit the best application possible.

Licensed in Another State and Seeking a Georgia LPC License?

1) Much of my consultation is providing licensees tools to deal with the ethics of interstate practice. Every person’s situation is unique.

2) Others are licensed but want to obtain a Georgia license as well. There are generally two options for being issued a Georgia LPC license from out-of-state- licensure by endorsement and licensure by exam or exam waiver.

Navigating these options is often a complicated task with many moving parts.

Together we will evaluate your licensing materials including your original state application, transcripts and other documents if necessary and determine the best course of action.
