“Eye-opening workshop as regards board rulings versus civil law proceedings!” – Georgia LCSW
“…extremely thorough information for our new supervision program. Thank you.” -Angela Wheelus LPC

I developed this workshop to address industry trends of increased clinical supervisor responsibilities and risk, board and disciplinary actions taken against LPC and LCSW and MFT supervisors and telemental health supervision. Learn to work with confidence and conviction from an experienced trainer and clinical supervisor who provides useful, reliable and accurate information.

There are important ethical and legal differences between delivering teletherapy and telesupervision:

How do I protect myself, my license and my supervisees clients?
How do I handle difficult supervisors?
How can I supervise with minimal stress and anxiety?

Can I provide supervision to an out of state license applicant?
How can I minimize ethics and legal violations when providing distance counseling?

Workshop Objectives:

1) Participants will learn advanced techniques for supervision of telemental health therapy.
Demonstrate knowledge of a thorough 3-step rigorous vetting and selection process.

2) Participants will learn to resolve the most common ethical dilemmas of telemental health delivery.

3) Participants will demonstrate abilities to reduce anxiety about providing ethical and safe telemental health and supervision.

4) Participants will demonstrate learning of how to implement an organized approach to supervision.

There are unique challenges to providing telemental health supervision–it’s the reason many state licensing boards require clinical supervisors to be trained in it. Definition of Approved LPC LCSW and MFT supervisors varies from state to state. Some states require a third party administered credential. Many states require the supervisor to be directly approved by the licensing board through an application process.

There is quality clinical supervisor training and inferior training. If you provide clinical supervision you should be trained properly. In all situations, the training should meet an industry standard and be practical, logical and empirical. In many cases, a clinical supervisor struggles based on poor training. In short, clinical supervision continuing education should be delivered by experienced clinical supervisors who can provide useful, reliable and accurate information.
